Impressions

The Circle of European Communicators has been uniting the most senior communicators from across Europe for the sharing of ideas and knowledge since 2011. After meeting at the notable Oxford Student Union (2011), the historic  Cecilienhof in Potsdam close to Berlin (2012), the vibrant Pera Palace in Istanbul (2013), in the beautiful city of Rome (2014) and travelling up north to Copenhagen (2015), we will gather for our 2016 edition the fascinating city of Athens.

Designed by an engaged programme committee, this high-level event presents visionary speakers and inspiration for debate and is always positively received. Most of our attendees return to the Circle gathering, while we always look forward to welcoming further senior peers joining our forum. Here are some impressions from our Circle series:

“The most interesting, stimulating, and challenging conversations I’ve had at any industry gathering all year were at The Circle.  If you’re lucky enough to be invited, definitely go.”

Mark Johnson, CEO, Zite and speaker at the 2013 Circle gathering

“Inspiring contacts, unusual venues and interesting networks – these are the ingredients that make the Circle conferences so well-rounded. There are very few occasions that allow high-level communicators to exchange ideas in such a wonderful setting.”

Elisabeth Schick, Senior Vice President Communications & Government Relations BASF Group, BASF

“The Circle provides both high-level learning and plenty of opportunity to share experiences and network with public relations peers in a structured and yet relaxed atmosphere. If you go to only one conference a year, the Circle might very well be the one you should attend.”

Bjorn Edlund, Chairman Europe & CIS, Edelman, former EVP Communications at Royal Dutch Shell plc.

“Attending the Circle meetings has been an opportunity for me to step out of the daily activities of the corporate world and think about the little acts that have brought about enormous changes around us. The meetings bring together smart people – young and old- who in their little ways have positively impacted the world by first impacting their immediate spaces. I also enjoy the opportunity to talk sports, science, invention, and philosophy … everything apart from the oil business which occupies my daily work hours. I am, always, greatly inspired by the people I meet at the Circle gatherings. And I would not forget to add that it is also an opportunity to expand our network of contacts!”

Angela Agoawike, Head of Public Relations and Information, OPEC

“An eye and brain opening forum with a ‘je ne sais pas quoi’ touch.”

Christine Nicolay, Global Communication Director, Cargill Texturizing Solutions

“I had the pleasure of presenting to the Circle who proved a very sharp and insightful and curious audience. Receptive, open and warmly challenging, our conversations quickly lead to debate, discovery and live problem-solving in the moment. With only a light distinction between attendees, organisers and presenters, it was a real group experience, across conference halls, dining rooms and rooftop bars!”

David McCandless, Founder and Owner, Informationisbeautiful.net and speaker at the 2013 Circle gathering

“The Circle: in the company of top-peers. Enjoying insights and conversation on societal trends and topics that impact communications. Inspiring, just because it’s not about communications. Highly enjoyable, because of the top peers and great venues. Simply the best.”

Hans Koeleman, Director Corporate Communications, KPN Royal Dutch Telecom
